Three decades of discovery
The Science and Technology Fair has been an annual event in the Nelson Tasman region for over 30 years. Cawthron has been supporting the fair for over a decade and became the primary sponsor and organiser of the event after the 2011 fair.
Judging of the projects is completed by the end of the first day and the remaining time that the projects are on display is the perfect opportunity for friends, family and anyone to come along and have a look at the fantastic talent we have in our region.
Fame and fortune
The prizes of the fair have become famous for their generosity. Each student is judged by an independent panel and has the opportunity to win gold, silver, or bronze science or technology awards. Winning projects may then receive the overall science award or the overall technology award. All students also have the opportunity to win one of the 'Special Category' awards from our sponsors.
Cawthron Foundation is a registered charity established to support the world-class, independent research delivered by Cawthron Institute to protect and enhance freshwater and marine environments.
Cawthron Foundation is overseen by an independent trust board chaired by Dr Morgan Williams – current chair of World Wide Fund for Nature in New Zealand and former Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment.
Cawthron Foundation provides an opportunity for you to play a part in developing science for a better world. Donations and gifts to the Foundation help Cawthron to deliver research into areas important to New Zealanders, and to support talented New Zealand scientists.
